Evergreen Helps Fill Affordable Senior Housing Gap With Hospital Adaptive Reuse

March 13, 2020

Continuing to carve out a niche in hospital-to-senior housing conversions, Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group is adding another notch to its belt with Ravenswood Senior Living. The developer recently broke ground on the $81 million redevelopment of the vacant Ravenswood Hospital on Chicago’s North Side, which the firm will repurpose as 193 units of much-needed affordable senior housing. Prior to this latest development, Evergreen delivered Aurora St. Charles Senior Living, in which the firm restored a vacant Art Deco hospital in Aurora, Ill., and converted it into 60 independent affordable senior housing residences. Knowing the firm’s pioneering projects would lend themselves to national media coverage, we pitched and secured a Forbes.com feature highlighting Evergreen’s success creating affordable housing for this underserved demographic.

Developed by Evergreen Real Estate Group, Ravenswood Senior Living will be one of the nation’s first developments offering both independent living and supportive living for low-income seniors in the same location.
