Homebuilding Sees A Refreshed Boom In New Construction

February 19, 2021

Record-low housing inventory is fueling a wave of new construction in metros across the country, including Washington, D.C., where buyers – including first-timers who expect to continue working remotely at least part time – are willing to venture farther out to find a home they can afford. When the Washington Post was looking for D.C.-area experts to comment on the trend, we connected the reporter with Michael Medick, a principal in the Tysons office of Taylor Johnson client KTGY Architecture + Planning. In the resulting article, Michael explained that while many entry-level buyers are looking for “drive until you qualify” inventory, KTGY is also seeing demand for build-to-rent housing closer to downtown that offers single-family living without the down payment.
