Mayor Emanuel, The Habitat Company Cut Ribbon On East Park SRO

December 4, 2018

With the number of single-room occupancy (SRO) properties in Chicago rapidly declining, Taylor Johnson client The Habitat Company knew a celebration was in order after it completed a $16 million acquisition and 13-month rehabilitation of East Park SRO, a 153-unit community in Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood. With the TJ event and media relations teams at the ready, we worked with Habitat on hosting an official ribbon-cutting ceremony that was attended by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, 28th Ward Alderman Jason Ervin and multiple city officials. The temps might have been low, but the event turnout and enthusiasm were high, resulting in coverage in a number of outlets, including RE JournalsMultihousing Pro and Multi-Housing News.
