Related Midwest Celebrates Opening Of Lathrop

November 7, 2019

An afternoon rain did not dampen the spirits of residents, neighbors, city officials and development partners at the recent grand opening of Lathrop: a 34-acre, renovated mixed-income community stretched along the Chicago River on the city’s North Side and developed by Taylor Johnson client Related Midwest and partners Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp., Heartland Housing and the Chicago Housing Authority. Originally constructed in 1938, this historic public housing project is now a vibrant community offering market rate, affordable and public housing units, along with 5 acres of reimagined green space with a 2-acre great lawn, children’s playground, and landscaped riverwalk. We knew the transformation of this historic property would be of interest to the media, so we offered an early look to Curbed Chicago and pitched the story to Block Club ChicagoBisnow ChicagoConnect Chicago and REBusinessOnline. Read more about the thoughtfully restored residences here.

Alderman Daniel LaSpata joined Lathrop residents and executives from Related Midwest, Bickerdike Redevelopment Corp., Heartland Housing and the Chicago Housing Authority to celebrate the opening of Lathrop’s newly renovated residences and riverwalk.
