Related Midwest’s The 78 Gets In Gear

Earlier this fall, Taylor Johnson client Related Midwest took the first major step on The 78 — its 62-acre, riverfront mixed-use development near Chicago’s South Loop — when construction began on the site for the Wells-Wentworth Connector, a road that will connect the new neighborhood to both the Loop and Chinatown. Recognizing that this infrastructure milestone would be a good time for a deeper story on the overall project, we pitched a Q&A with Curt Bailey, Related Midwest’s president, to Commercial Property Executive. Read more here about how The 78, a $7.2 billion project, will add 24,000 permanent jobs and 4 million square feet of diverse office space to the downtown market, along with residential, retail, restaurants, a public park, a half-mile riverwalk, and educational institutions like the Discovery Partners Institute — a high-tech incubator that will help make The 78 one of Chicago’s hottest office submarkets.
