Transit-oriented development has been a hot topic in Chicago for a while, with a renewed focus on the city’s South and West Sides because of Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s recently announced Equitable Transit-Oriented Development (ETOD) policy plan. Earlier this year, Taylor Johnson client The Habitat Company announced it secured LIHTC funding for its 43 Green project, located on Chicago’s South Side at 43rd Street and Calumet Avenue – near Chicago’s Green Line L station. With this information, we connected Habitat with Block Club Chicago for a story highlighting the project’s mix of affordable housing, retail space and proximity to the Green Line as a project that epitomizes the city’s ETOD concept.
