Evergreen Completes $7M Renovation Of Garden House Of Maywood
As rising housing costs leave many Chicago-area seniors with limited housing options, the rehabilitation of existing senior communities is more critical than ever. Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group, whose award-winning projects have established new models for affordable housing development and preservation, recently completed $7 million in improvements to Garden House of Maywood, a community of 144 affordable senior apartments in Maywood, Ill. The 10-story building, which is managed by Evergreen and owned by Housing and Human Development Corporation (HHDC), a nonprofit organization formed to develop and acquire affordable housing and provide supportive services to low-income seniors and families, received many structural and cosmetic improvements. Evergreen Construction Co., the firm’s full-service construction arm, managed the nine-month renovation. Taylor Johnson shared news of the project’s completion with media, securing coverage in RE Journals, Bisnow Chicago, Senior Housing News and Seniors Housing Business.

The first-level common space at Garden House of Maywood received updates as part of a recent renovation completed by Evergreen, including a reconfiguration of the large lounge to create dedicated spaces for a library, TV room, kitchen and multi-purpose community room.
