Chicago’s Speculative Warehouses Seeing New Demand
E-commerce-fueled demand for spec industrial offered plenty of opportunity in Chicago at the close of 2020. When Illinois Real Estate Journal was looking for insights on spec industrial in Chicago’s various submarkets, we knew just where to turn. Jack Brennan, vice president of industrial services for Taylor Johnson client NAI Hiffman, explained why some areas, like Southeast Wisconsin and the I-80 corridor – which saw Q4 increases of 616,639 and 1,744,279 square feet, respectively – performed better than areas like the I-55 corridor, which is facing price increases and scarcer land.
