Baird & Warner, Illinois’ largest family-owned independent real estate services company, today announced that 125 agents and employees raised over $42,400 for 11 Chicago-area charities at the company’s third annual Field Day Fundraiser event, held on Aug. 11 at Waveland Park in East Lakeview.
“It’s been incredibly rewarding to see the Field Day Fundraiser quickly evolve from what started as an outdoor social outing designed to bring together agents and employees who were coming out of the pandemic into a highly anticipated annual tradition,” said Courtney Welsch, an agent from Baird & Warner’s Lincoln Park office who played an instrumental role in organizing the event. “Each year, we see an increase in offices and teams participating as well as money raised, and I’d like to thank everyone who helped make 2023 our most successful Field Day Fundraiser yet.”
Twelve teams comprising agents from Baird & Warner’s Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, City North, Evanston, Edgebrook, Highland Park, Winnetka and Oak Park offices as well as employees from the company’s corporate office, Key Mortgage Services and Baird & Warner Title took part of Field Day. Each team competed on behalf of a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit such as Backbones Chicago, Camp One Step, BandWith Chicago, March of Dimes, Sarah Circle, Big Shoulders, Care For Real, St. Jude, Animal Care League, Kids Rank and Cornerstone Community. The competition featured classic field day games such as a bouncy ball relay, sack race, three-legged race, human ring-toss and water balloon toss, culminating in a tug-o-war finale.
The Field Day Fundraiser was supported by Baird & Warner’s Good Will Works, the company’s philanthropic arm, which is dedicated to furthering the causes of fair housing, racial equity and financial empowerment through volunteering, education and fundraising. Good Will Works awarded an additional $5,000 to the charities of the Field Day winners and top fundraising teams as well as provided matching grants to personal donations made by volunteers to further boost overall giving. The overall winning team of Field Day was Camp One Step out of Baird & Warner’s Lincoln Park office. And taking home the top fundraising spot, as well as the team spirit award was the Backbones Chicago team, also out of Baird & Warner’s Lincoln Park office.
“Our Field Day Fundraiser is truly a ‘one company’ event, bringing together agents from nearly a dozen offices and corporate employees, loan officers and title reps from the various departments at Baird & Warner,” said Steve Baird, chief executive officer and president of Baird & Warner, who attended the event. “Throughout our company’s 168-year history, we’ve always believed in taking care of the communities in which we live and work. Whether it’s hosting an event like Field Day to raise money for charities near to our agents’ hearts, promoting fair housing initiatives and homeowner education, or teaming up with partners like Habitat for Humanity Chicago, giving back continues to be an essential part of Baird & Warner’s company culture.”
Since 2002, Baird & Warner’s Good Will Works arm has donated more than $3 million to Chicagoland not-for-profits focused on housing-related causes. In 2022, Baird & Warner announced a multi-year partnership with Habitat for Humanity Chicago and a $500,000 donation to the organization, the largest corporate contribution in the nonprofit’s history. Companywide volunteer opportunities include multiple Habitat For Humanity home-build days, various office-based initiatives and a volunteer time-off matching program.
