The Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University (MBIRE) has awarded scholarships to seven students as part of its commitment to provide financial support and mentoring resources to students in the real estate programs of the university.

“The Chicago real estate community continues to show its commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders through these scholarships for MBIRE students,” said Collete English Dixon, MBIRE executive director. “The generous commitments from our industry partners help ensure that scholarship recipients will receive not only financial resources, but also have access to the coveted advice and expertise of Chicago’s top real estate practitioners – as well as highly valuable networking and internship opportunities – that will prepare them for success as they explore careers in real estate.”

Peter Tate is the first-ever recipient of the DL3 Realty Graduate Certificate Scholarship, which aims to increase accessibility to certificate programs among post-baccalaureate students from underrepresented communities, while promoting career opportunities within real estate development. Tate, a self-taught real estate investor, was drawn to MBIRE as he felt it was the best way to deepen his understanding of the industry while also taking advantage of its mentorship and networking opportunities that would allow him to refine his skills and establish his brand.

“I want to be competitive in real estate and this scholarship and program provide the perfect platform for me to grow my business,” said Tate. “I’m also very grateful to both MBIRE and DL3 Realty for their commitment to expanding real estate opportunities for people of color. Getting a foot in the door is often the biggest challenge for minorities, but once you are able to make a name for yourself, you’ll have plenty of people in the industry who want to work with you.”

Eldana Satymkulova received the Louis and Ruth Kahnweiler Scholarship for Future Leaders in Real Estate. This scholarship supports both undergraduate and graduate students in real estate programs at Roosevelt University.

The McCaffery Interests Fund for Real Estate Entrepreneurship Scholarship was awarded to Kha’nari Williams. Established in 2010 by Daniel McCaffery, chairman, McCaffery Interests, and Edmund Woodard, president, McCaffery Interests, this scholarship strives to financially assist and support emerging real estate leaders from underserved and underrepresented communities.

Karla Marin received the LaSalle Investment Management Scholarship, which supports diversity and excellence in the real estate industry, with a focus on educating students about the opportunities and potential of a career in real estate, particularly real estate management.

Neeva Shresth – aa NAREIM Fellow and Goldie Scholar – was the recipient of The NAIOP Chicago University Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance to university students interested in real estate.

Sam Marty has been selected as an Eisenberg Scholar and received a scholarship from The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation, which raises funds in support of gastrointestinal cancer research and is committed to catapulting the career paths of aspiring real estate students through hands-on, real-world education opportunities, including mentorships, scholarships and more.

Krista Norton is a CLE Fellow, receiving a scholarship from The Ferguson Centers for Leadership Excellence, a program that empowers racially and ethnically diverse students, as well as those who identify with diverse gender identities, to earn undergraduate degrees and secure promising careers in real estate and related sectors.
