Lemont, Illinois-based Englewood Construction, one of the country’s leading commercial construction firms, has hired four new team members including Tina McGrath as senior business development manager, Juan Rojas as assistant controller, Ron Koepl as project manager and Richard Mendonsa as project engineer. Bill Di Santo, president of Englewood Construction, made the announcement.
“We have a growing pipeline of construction work coming our way as the sectors we specialize in continue to thrive, so we’re thrilled to put new team members in place that will help us manage this influx of business and seamlessly execute future projects,” said Di Santo. “These new hires will be invaluable as we work to meet our big-picture goals and continue to provide excellent service to our clients.”
In her position as senior business development manager, Tina McGrath brings more than 10 years of industry experience and an extensive background in retail and restaurant construction to Englewood, complementing the firm’s already impressive reputation in these sectors. Additionally, she will leverage her relationships in the industry to support Englewood’s growing presence in healthcare, assisted living and hospitality construction.
Prior to joining Englewood, McGrath was business development manager for Berglund Construction and also spent nearly six years as business development director for Thorndale Construction Services, where she managed relationships with clients including Chick-fil-A, Shake Shack and JLL.
“At every point in my career I’ve had a passion for connecting people, so I appreciate the great partnerships Englewood builds with its clients and I’m eager to help foster new relationships for the firm,” said McGrath.
As assistant controller, Juan Rojas provides accounting, budgeting, cash management, treasury, and tax handling functions for Englewood Construction.
Rojas gained more than 16 years of accounting experience at several Chicago-based construction firms. He previously was a project accountant for Power Construction Co., where he worked on the $135 million Block 37 project in Chicago and a $60 million hospital expansion project in Elkhart, Indiana. Prior to that, Rojas was senior project accountant at Pepper Construction, where he was the onsite accountant for the $250 million construction of Harrah’s Hammond Horseshoe Casino in Indiana.
“My experience as project accountant on many high-profile projects honed my creative problem-solving skills, which are essential in making the most of every project dollar,” said Rojas. “I look forward to continuing to apply these skills in my work with Englewood.”
Rojas has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Robert Morris College, Chicago, and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of DeVry University.
Ron Koepl, Englewood’s newly hired project manager, comes to the firm with 38 years of construction experience. In his new role he will oversee projects in new construction, food service and hospitality.
Most recently, Koepl was project manager at Chicago-based Powers & Sons Construction Co. where he oversaw the 10-story, 110,000-square-foot interior build-out of the University of Chicago’s offices at Harper Court, which earned LEED Platinum accreditation. He also was a project manager for Northbrook, Ill.-based Crane Construction Co., specializing in restaurant and hotel renovations.
“I’ve always respected Englewood’s strong presence in high-end restaurant and hospitality work, and I’m proud to join a firm with such an excellent reputation,” Koepl said. “I’ve managed a number of projects in these sectors over the years, so I look forward to bringing my experience and insights to Englewood.”
Koepl has an associate’s degree in construction technology from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
Richard Mendonsa, Englewood’s new project engineer, is a 2015 graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management technology. He previously served as an intern for Englewood Construction.
“I learned so much interning with Englewood, so I’m excited to join the company full-time and build my knowledge and experience in all facets of this industry,” said Mendonsa.
