Another large-scale development is coming to Chicago’s Near West Side, where a joint venture arranged by Taylor Johnson client KIG is planning a multiphase residential project whose total price tag could top $300 million. Guggenheim Real Estate, Atlantic Realty Partners and Focus Development plan to renovate Medical District Apartments, a 410-unit apartment complex just east of the Illinois Medical District, and construct two new residential towers — each with approximately 250 units — that would flank the existing community. The project is one of several proposed for the IMD, including the planned redevelopment of the old Cook County Hospital. In addition to coordinating an exclusive with Crain’s Chicago Business, which has been tracking development activity on the Near West Side, we secured coverage in GlobeSt.com, Chicago Architecture, Curbed and DNAinfo, among other outlets.

A joint venture arranged by KIG plans to renovate the Medical District Apartments at 901 S. Ashland Ave. (foreground) and develop two new residential towers -- one on each side of the existing community.
