As Holidays Approach, Buildings Prep For Cardboard Crush
, residential buildings across the country are preparing for the annual (and ever-increasing) cardboard crush. In Chicago, Taylor Johnson clients Waterton and RMK Management are among those retrofitting existing buildings and developing new ones to include expansive package rooms, self-serve lockers, commercial-grade refrigeration units and package notification systems. As the Chicago Tribune reports, while this level of package service is particularly helpful in November and December, it is increasingly viewed by tenants as a must-have amenity year-round, influencing everything from design, to marketing, to day-to-day building operations.

At Presidential Towers, Chicago’s largest rental community, residents received 100,400 package deliveries in 2015. This year, that number is already at 96,000 heading into the holiday season, when deliveries can top 1,000 per day. (Credit: William Camargo / Chicago Tribune)
