A joint venture of Chicago-based M&R Development and Bucksbaum Retail Properties LLC has announced two high-profile leases at the new Addison & Clark residential and retail center coming to Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in 2018. Los Angeles-based Lucky Strike Entertainment will open its second Chicago location at Addison & Clark, while New York-based Shake Shack, Inc. has chosen Addison & Clark as its fourth Chicago-area restaurant.
These two new leases come on the heels of CMX, the seventh-largest cinema chain worldwide with 297 theaters and 2,593 screens, announcing plans earlier this year for a 10-screen movie theater at Addison & Clark. Located directly across from Wrigley Field on the northeast corner of Addison Street and Clark Street, the eight-story transit-oriented development will include 148 luxury apartments and 150,000 square feet of retail space.
“The retail anchors at Addison & Clark will help write the playbook for creating exciting and experiential neighborhoods nationwide and will continue to build on making Lakeview a year-round destination with best-in class dining and entertainment,” said John Bucksbaum, CEO of Chicago-based developer Bucksbaum Retail Properties. “The high profiles of these retailers – Lucky Strike, Shake Shack and CMX – will ensure the stability of this development for the long-term and will give area residents and visitors multiple entertainment options before, during and after the traditionally busy baseball season.”
“The Addison & Clark development has significant economic importance in this enclave of the Lakeview neighborhood,” said Anthony Rossi, Sr., president of M&R Development. “The combination of luxury rental residences and high-profile retail venues will help fill a long-standing need for contemporary entertainment options around Wrigley Field.”
According to Bucksbaum, Lucky Strike Entertainment will offer a chef-driven menu, private and semi-private function spaces, live music, and a premium bowling experience. The Addison & Clark location will occupy approximately 30,000 square feet on the second floor of the complex and serve as a one-stop-shop for patrons of all ages living in, or visiting, Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.
Shake Shack, Inc., the popular “modern-day roadside burger stand,” will bring its national reputation for one-of-a-kind burgers, hot dogs and frozen custard shakes to Addison & Clark in a lease occupying 3,500 square feet.
While Addison & Clark – located just a block west of the CTA’s Addison Red Line stop and steps from several major bus routes – offers convenient access to public transportation, the project will include 405 indoor parking spaces for resident and public use. The public parking garage will feature 341 parking spaces. In addition, residents will have exclusive access to a private, underground garage with 64 reserved parking spots. The resident garage will feature private elevators leading to the residential floors.
Apartments at the development will offer a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Additionally, the residential component will include a 5,700-square-foot indoor clubhouse and over 8,700 square feet of outdoor space, including a pool/spa on the fourth-floor amenity deck. Addison & Clark is already under construction, having broken ground this summer.
