That was until Taylor Johnson client Related Midwest, together with affiliate Related Affordable, acquired the 628-unit apartment community, embarking on a $175 million redevelopment that extended the affordability of the homes for another 30 years. As part of the project, Related retained local minority- and women-owned businesses, and established a community hiring program that created nearly 50 full- and part-time jobs for residents of the 27th Ward, including multiple union apprenticeships.
