Multifamily developers aren’t the only ones who have set their sights on the West Loop. Investors like Taylor Johnson client Waterton also see opportunity in the neighborhood as Google, McDonald’s and other high-profile employers bring jobs there. Waterton recently purchased an 81-unit rental community at 20 N. Aberdeen St., one block south of McDonald’s future global headquarters. Formerly known as Madison Aberdeen Place, the community has been rebranded as The Aberdeen West Loop. It includes a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, plus ground-floor retail. GlobeSt.com, Heartland Real Estate Business, REJournals.com and Bisnow were among the outlets that covered the acquisition, Waterton’s first in 2017.
