An increased demand for senior housing has developers looking to build or refurbish buildings to create affordable homes for this underserved segment of the population. In addition to converting a historic hospital in downtown Aurora, Ill., into an independent senior living facility, Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group is working with the Chicago Housing Authority to construct two “co-located” developments that will include affordable housing atop new Chicago Public Library branches — one in Irving Park and the other in West Ridge. When the Chicago Tribune needed experts to discuss the state of senior housing in Chicago, Taylor Johnson facilitated interviews with both Evergreen and a resident of the firm’s recently opened Aurora community.

Evergreen Real Estate Group is developing a pair of "co-located" projects featuring affordable housing atop two new library branches, including this one at 6800 N. Western Ave., designed by Perkins+Will.
