Chicago-based Evergreen Real Estate Group, a leader in the development, rehabilitation and management of both affordable and market-rate multifamily housing, today announced it has been retained to manage 11 affordable housing communities comprising 1,436 units in Illinois, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. The assignments include a mix of affordable housing units for families and seniors, expanding Evergreen’s national management portfolio to nearly 7,000 units across the country.

“Evergreen is committed to creating quality affordable housing that improves lives and promotes economic diversity in neighborhoods that might otherwise be out of reach to individuals and families facing financial hardship,” said Steve Rappin, president of Evergreen Real Estate Group. “Our strong track record working with owners to ensure compliance with various rules and reporting requirements combined with our ‘whole person’ management philosophy, through which we integrate social services and programming tailored to residents’ needs, has helped us quickly expand our management portfolio at a time when affordable housing is needed most.”

The new assignments include the following properties:

  • Pleasant Valley – 41-unit affordable housing community in Conshohocken, Pa.
  • Daniel J. Flood Tower – 210-unit Section 8 senior community in Kingston, Pa.
  • Hillcrest Apartments – 88-unit Section 8 senior community in McHenry, Ill.

  • Skyline Towers – 158-unit Section 8 senior community in Alton, Ill.
  • Durand Plaza – 72-unit Section 8 senior community in Racine, Wis.

As manager, Evergreen will handle site-level operations and oversee capital improvement projects at several of the communities using low-income housing tax credits and other subsidies. Additionally, Evergreen will work with residents to coordinate events and service offerings, including social gatherings for seniors and after-school activities for children.

At Evergreen, we know that effective management doesn’t stop with physical improvements,” said Rappin. “Renovations are important, but so is investing in the people who call our communities home. That’s why we also focus on implementing resident services as part of our property management platform.”
