Earlier this month, Taylor Johnson client Related Midwestunveiled its proposal for 400 Lake Shore Drive:

a two-tower development designed by prolific architect David Childs with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), on the site of the former Chicago Spire project. Located on the last waterfront site where Lake Michigan meets the Chicago River, the plan for 400 Lake Shore Drive includes a mix of luxury apartment and condominium residences, a boutique hotel, and an adjacent Riverwalk that, for the first time, will provide pedestrian access to the lakefront and DuSable Park from downtown. As part of its proposal, Related Midwest will build the new DuSable Park and donate $10 million to its construction. The Chicago TribuneCrain’s Chicago BusinessCurbed Chicago and Chicago magazine were among the first outlets that covered details of the long-awaited proposal.

The two sister towers proposed by Related Midwest and designed by architect David Childs with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill feature slender, cascading silhouettes that, together, form a gateway to downtown Chicago.
