COVID-19 has been a game-changer for real estate developers, especially those that quickly adapted to new market realities. One such pandemic pivot is The Neighborhood Hotel , a historic building in Lincoln Park that was fully renovated into 14 designer-furnished, short-term stay units for travelers. With the global travel industry disrupted, the developer worked with Taylor Johnson client Downtown Apartment Company to transition half of the units to long-term furnished rentals. We pitched the successful hybrid hotel/apartment model to Chicago Magazine, resulting in this feature highlighting how The Neighborhood Hotel and other new projects are offering a modern spin on traditional housing options to meet the needs of today’s renters.

Fully-furnished one- to three-bedroom apartments at The Neighborhood Hotel have been outfitted by Rebel House Design with Downtown Apartment Company overseeing leasing.
