At Taylor Johnson, both PR and event teams collaborate closely on every detail of a client celebration — from the run-of-show to press outreach — to ensure efforts are strategically aligned. This integrated approach was especially critical for Habitat’s dual ribbon-cutting and groundbreaking at Ogden Commons, the developer’s new mixed-use development in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. The occasion was especially notable as it marked the grand opening of the first building of OC Living, Ogden Common’s multiphase mixed-income residential community, and the start of construction of its second phase.
On the event side, Taylor Johnson worked closely with Habitat to execute a seamless event showcasing both the community’s past milestones and its future plans. From invitation design and guest list management to on-site logistics and coordinating with the City of Chicago, TJ provided full-service event support. To elevate the guest experience and reflect the community-driven nature of the development, TJ also partnered with an Ogden Commons restaurant tenant to provide food and beverage service, bringing a hyper-local element to the celebration.
When it came to PR, Taylor Johnson successfully coordinated a walkthrough of the property during the event, with media touring alongside city officials, Mayor Brandon Johnson and an OC Living resident. In addition to working with the mayor’s staff to manage the tour and photography, TJ ensured Mayor Johnson’s presence was highlighted by proactively confirming his attendance with local TV news desks the day before the event.
By combining expertise in both PR and events, TJ ensured the celebration of Ogden Commons’ milestones not only went off without a hitch, but also reached audiences well beyond those in attendance, with coverage across NBC 5 News Chicago, Chicago Sun-Times, Multi-Housing News, Yield PRO, Connect CRE Chicago & Midwest, REjournals, REBusinessOnline and Urbanize Chicago.
