Taylor Johnson understands that every event has unique goals — and those goals can evolve over time. That was certainly the case when the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University (MBIRE) navigated three major format shifts for its annual gala.
Like many in 2020, Taylor Johnson learned how to adapt quickly to changes in event planning due to the pandemic — including some that would become permanent, such as MBIRE’s move from its in-person gala to a fully virtual event. A year later as in-person events began to resume, TJ helped further evolve the gala in response to COVID-influenced preferences, guiding the transition from the event’s long-standing sit-down dinner format to a modern cocktail-style gathering featuring buffet stations and passed appetizers.
In 2023, Taylor Johnson once again pivoted and moved the event’s location to 167 N. Green, an exciting new venue in Chicago’s Fulton Market District that matched the gala’s elevated tone. From layout design and vendor coordination to managing the guest experience, TJ oversaw all facets of planning and execution. This included creating a visually engaging environment featuring custom lounge groupings, dramatic lighting installations, branded photo moments, and creative bar backdrops.
Through an ongoing partnership, TJ continues to support MBIRE’s mission to honor industry leadership while promoting greater diversity in commercial real estate and helps ensure its gala remains one of the most anticipated events in the field.
