There are a lot of ways for a new project to make a splash. When global real estate firm Lendlease launched the largest residential geothermal development in New York state, Taylor Johnson put all of its skills to work, resulting in top-tier print and broadcast placements including Bloomberg and CNBC.

First, TJ drafted and distributed a press release announcing financing for 1 Java Street, an 834-unit, all-electric residential development along the Greenpoint waterfront in Brooklyn. The release centered around a unique feature of the project: a boundary-pushing geothermal system that will help offset the building’s carbon footprint. We were able to distill the complexities of the geothermal system down to a more comprehensible story of innovation and cutting-edge sustainability that resonated with reporters. This led to widespread coverage, from national outlets like Bloomberg to local media such as New York Real Estate Journal.

Second, our event management team traveled to Brooklyn to help coordinate the 1 Java Street groundbreaking ceremony attended by project partners, elected officials, reporters and other stakeholders. TJ’s outreach around the event led to more than 50 media placements with an estimated 220 million impressions. The most prominent of these was a series of on-site live broadcasts by CNBC’s senior climate and real estate correspondent, Diana Olick.

Then, in the subsequent months, TJ crafted pitches that presented the project as a relevant case study for reporters’ trend stories, elevating the profiles of both 1 Java Street and Lendlease. We worked with multiple spokespersons on a variety of talking points — including sustainability, investment strategy, construction expertise and more — securing continued coverage with top-tier outlets that helped promote Lendlease’s key messages.
