Challenged by limited land availability downtown, Chicago-area developers are setting their sights on less-crowded neighborhoods and suburbs. According to data from Appraisal Research Counselors, more suburban apartments were opened last year than in any time in the past 20 years as developers capitalize on pent-up demand for modern communities offering the latest finishes and amenities.
