It’s been more than a decade since Taylor Johnson client CA Ventures and its student housing entity, CA Student Living, pioneered the co-living model, in which renters lease a bedroom rather than an entire unit. Once marketed exclusively to students, the concept has gone mainstream as rents have soared, with non-student residents representing 10 to 15 percent of renters at CA Student Living properties in urban centers.
