As the future of historic tax credits hangs in limbo, projects like The Legacy Lofts at the Blommer Ice Cream Factory, a 64-unit mixed-income rental community in downtown Milwaukee, are moving forward as a testament to the importance of this endangered resource. Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group was recently joined by Milwaukee officials, co-developer Legacy Midwest Renewal Corp. and other partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of Legacy Lofts. Partially housed in the former Blommer Ice Cream Factory, a three-story structure that was built in 1928, the community will offer a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments when completed in August 2018.
