From start to finish, the latest project spearheaded by Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group highlighted how to preserve affordable housing with little disruption to existing residents. The $2 million renovation of Durand Plaza, a 72-unit affordable senior housing community in Racine, Wis., featured numerous structural and cosmetic improvements to the multi-building development, all of which were managed and executed by the company’s full-service construction arm, Evergreen Construction Co. In conjunction with the renovation, Evergreen, which has managed the property since acquiring it in October 2017, also secured an extension of Durand Plaza’s Section 8 contract, maintaining affordability of the homes for another 20 years.
