With Chicago’s supply of affordable housing units dropping 15% since 2012, the city’s affordability gap has continued to grow amid rising rents.
But there are some bright spots in the market in developments like Oso Apartments, a new-construction affordable rental community that opened in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood in October. Developed by Taylor Johnson client Evergreen Real Estate Group, in partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority, the five-story, 48-unit community stands as an example of how public-private partnerships can bring affordable housing to neighborhoods that need it most.
