Taylor Johnson client FitzGerald Associates Architects –along with team members from Eriksson Engineering Associates, Power Construction, and ECS Midwest–took home the Structural Ingenuity Award for the team’s structure, “__ in 6” at this year’s CANstruction Reception and Awards Night. The award recognizes a sculpture, made out of canned goods, that “Pushes the limits of gravity and physics to turn a basic can of food into a structure that makes you say, ‘Wow, how did they do that?'” According to FitzGerald, “_ in 6” represents the forces of good coming together to end hunger, but also recognizes the gaps between our efforts, and the void that still remains. The award-winning project resulted in a donation of more than $5,300 in canned food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Congratulations to the FitzGerald CANstruction team!
