Here’s What Happens When An Established Developer Joins Up With A Fledgling Black-Owned Development Firm
No one will argue Chicago’s rich development scene is lacking in diversity, with many obstacles preventing minority-owned firms from breaking through. Taylor Johnson client Structured Development is looking to change that, recently forming a joint venture with Fain’s Development LLC, a Black-owned development firm based in East Garfield Park. Together as equal partners, Structured and Fain’s will complete a portion of the second phase of Harrison Row Townhomes, a new development at Harrison and Francisco streets that will include as many as 50 affordable for-sale townhomes upon completion. TJ recently secured an op-ed in Crain’s Chicago Business for Structured’s Mike Drew to discuss how the partnership gives Fain’s the relationships and experience needed to one day pursue projects independently. TJ also secured media placements on the joint venture in Block Club Chicago and Bisnow Chicago and stories about Harrison Row with ABC 7, Chicago Tribune, REjournals, Urbanize Chicago, Builder, Chicago Business Journal, Chicago YIMBY, Chicago Cityscape and Chicago Architecture Blog.
