Opportunity Zones, a new federal program intended to spur investment and job creation in economically distressed areas, continues to make headlines as investors consider how the tool might benefit not only their own portfolios,

but also the communities in which they do business. Knowing Taylor Johnson clients Ginsberg Jacobs LLC and The Habitat Company could speak to the possible applications of this new incentive, which allows investors to defer capital gains taxes by redeploying those profits into qualifying census tracts, we secured a feature in the August issue of Illinois Real Estate Journal. Darryl Jacobs, co-founder of Ginsberg Jacobs, also contributed a byline on the topic for the Daily Herald Business Ledger’s current commercial real estate issue and spoke with Crain’s Chicago Business for a recent overview of the program.
