When Sears closed its Oakbrook Center store just seven months after remodeling it, the news grabbed Chicago-area headlines.  Guessing (correctly) the media would do more stories, we contacted the Chicago Tribune and offered Taylor Johnson client Marcus & Millichap as an expert — one that happens to have an office directly across from the shopping center. In the resulting story, retail investment specialists Sean Sharko and Austin Weisenbeck gave their take on what went wrong with the 62,000-square-foot location — including a likely still-too-large footprint, and a brand that, while iconic, had fallen out of step with other tenants in the center.
