With the arrival of the holiday shopping season in a year that has already brought a surge in e-commerce due to the pandemic, multifamily operators are dealing with an ever-increasing influx of packages arriving at their communities. We recently connected the National Apartment Association’s UNITS magazine with two Taylor Johnson clients for a story on the growing challenge of package delivery and new solutions property managers are implementing. While Mark Segal, senior vice president with Optima, Inc., noted that white-glove package delivery to residents’ doors has kept the process contact-free during the pandemic, Tim Kramer, vice president and director of operations with Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, said his firm is piloting new options to handle the increasing volume of packages, such as third-party services that outsource the delivery function.
