Pangea Adding To South Shore’s Housing Inventory, One Rehab At A Time

Last summer, Taylor Johnson client Pangea Real Estate acquired a 281-unit apartment portfolio from the Better Housing Foundation – and inherited buildings with hundreds of code violations. Following the purchase, Pangea launched an extensive capital improvement campaign to transform the properties into safe, quality homes for the community. The firm delivered the first of these properties earlier this year and has since rehabilitated two more buildings in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, as reported by Chicago Business Journal. The improvements included new emergency lighting, tuckpointing, roof repair, graffiti removal, electrical and plumbing upgrades and, in some cases, new vinyl plank flooring, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.
