Redevelop, Repurpose And Retenant
When a major tenant vacates a shopping center, many retail developers, like Taylor Johnson clients Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, and Hubbard Street Group, consider it an opportunity to reimagine the center.
Knowing this, we pitched both to Heartland Real Estate Business as sources for the publication’s October cover story on reinventing retail developments. Draper and Kramer and Hubbard Street Group perfectly illustrate how developers are reshaping existing centers with a new tenant mix. In the second phase of the Lake Meadows Market shopping center in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, Draper and Kramer added outlot buildings to attract casual dining options like Culver’s. And in suburban Oak Lawn, Hubbard Street Group and Keeler Real Estate are scouting mid-size retail tenants, including restaurants and niche grocery stores, to update a center formerly anchored by Kmart.
