Reviving A Historic Home On Chicago’s North Shore
As an architecture and interior design firm based in Evanston, Ill., Taylor Johnson client Morgante Wilson Architects (MWA) has earned a reputation for its expertise in not only designing custom luxury homes throughout Chicago’s North Shore, but also thoughtfully updating and preserving a number of the area’s historic homes. Team TJ recently pitched one of those projects, the renovation of a 1900s-era Highland Park residence by noted architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, for a feature in SPACES, Better magazine’s sister publication focused on design. The resulting article looks at the many ways MWA updated the home – including new interior finishes, an addition that allowed for a kitchen expansion, and the conversion of a coach house to a pool house – while also honoring its past and showcasing original elements.
