The Habitat Company Welcomes First Commercial Tenants To Ogden Commons

July 9, 2021

For years, Taylor Johnson client The Habitat Company has worked to make its inspired vision a reality for Ogden Commons, Chicago’s largest mixed-use opportunity zone project. While the foundation of Ogden Commons is housing, the $200 million development is also serving as a catalyst for new business development, job creation and improved access to vital healthcare services for the North Lawndale community. With construction complete on Ogden Commons’ first commercial building – built by TJ client James McHugh Construction Co. – the development is gearing up for tenants to welcome their first customers this summer. Taylor Johnson tapped Urbanize Chicago to share the news of this landmark moment for The Habitat Company, which will see even more activity at Ogden Commons this fall, when McHugh breaks ground on the development’s first phase of residential units. Developed by Habitat in a public-private partnership with Sinai Health System, Cinespace Chicago Film Studio, the Chicago Housing Authority and the city of Chicago, Ogden Commons is a 10-acre, $200 million development in the city’s North Lawndale neighborhood.
