There’s No Place Like Home, Or Is There?

May 14, 2021

As a national commercial interior design firm working with homebuilders and multifamily developers across the country, Taylor Johnson client Mary Cook Associates (MCA) has its finger on the pulse of trends shaping how people live – trends that have certainly shifted over the past year. To help the industry understand how homebuyer wants and needs have changed, the MCA team recently published a white paper titled “There’s No Place Like Home, Or Is There?” The first in a series of eight papers MCA will release based on its seven fundamentals of interior design methodology and 35 years of maximizing ‘return on environment’ for clients, the piece explores what’s shaping homes post-pandemic, from remote work and multi-generational households to increased emphasis on health and sustainability. We pitched Multifamily Executive a Q&A with Mary Cook, the firm’s founder and president, to talk about the white paper and what’s to come in the year ahead for commercial interiors. Read the Q&A here, and visit the MCA website to download the full white paper.

Amenity space with an indoor/outdoor connection, such as this lounge area at Oleander in Brookhaven, Ga., is one post-pandemic trend Mary Cook Associates identifies in the firm’s recently published white paper.
