For the 14th year in a row, we tapped the experts on our client roster for real estate trends and insights that will shape the year ahead, which we crafted into a series of three news releases. First up was our residential trends forecast, in which our builder, brokerage and design clients dished on predictions for 2019. The trends cover a lot of ground — from the effect of interest rate hikes to the aesthetic appeal of statement ceilings.Other topics discussed include how designers are making kitchens more of a living space and how developers are building for the “missing middle.” The release resulted in placements in a variety of outlets, including BisnowBuilderForbes.com and House Method. Read the full press release on the Taylor Johnson website here and see the photo album here.

Kitchens that function more like living spaces with open shelving and furniture-like pieces — such as this one by Morgante Wilson Architects — are a popular residential real estate trend for 2019.
