Englewood Construction, one of the country’s leading commercial construction firms, announces it has a number of new restaurant projects underway this spring, including two new Outback Steakhouse locations in Columbus, Ga., and Hialeah, Fla.; a new Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Lutz, Fla.; a ground-up Chick-fil-A in Novi, Mich.; and the interior remodel of a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Seattle.

“In recent years our Restaurant Group has continued to be a strong and steady part of our business as we partner with long-term clients on not only ground-up new-construction opportunities, but also renovation and remodel work to update and refresh existing locations,” said Bill Di Santo, president of Lemont, Ill.-based Englewood Construction. “I believe the scope of these current projects – in terms of different brands, concepts and locations – also represents the health of the nation’s restaurant and retails sectors, particularly as consumers seek out favorite, well-established dining options, which in turn prompts retail developers to look at restaurant offerings for bolstering foot traffic at retail centers.”

Englewood Partners with Bloomin’ Brands on 2 Outback Steakhouse Locations

Continuing its long-standing relationship with Tampa-based Bloomin’ Brands – which has included building or renovating Outback Steakhouse locations for the national restaurant chain in markets across the country – Englewood Construction has started work on two new-construction Outback Steakhouses. In early 2020, Englewood began construction on a 5,683-square-foot Outback Steakhouse at Livingston Drive and Whittlesey Blvd. in Columbus, Ga., with completion anticipated this summer. The freestanding restaurant is situated on an outparcel lot near the Columbus Park Crossing retail center and in the midst of one of the city’s top shopping and dining districts. St. Louis-based ArcVision Architects is the project architect.

Englewood also started construction in January on a 6,045-square-foot Outback Steakhouse at 1751 W. 49th St. in Hialeah, Fla. Mark S. Salopek, LLC, out of Richfield, Ohio, is the architect for the ground-up project, which is located just off the Palmetto Expressway on an outparcel lot adjacent to Westland Mall. It is slated for summer completion.

“Both of these projects illustrate one of the trends we continue to see in our restaurant sector work, which includes major players like Bloomin’ Brands taking advantage of real estate opportunities in prime, high-traffic areas to improve and enhance their location in markets where they already have a presence,” said Di Santo. “In this case, the client is not only strengthening its positioning in these markets, but also introducing a refreshed dining experience through the updated concepts we are building at these new, high-profile locations.”

New Carrabba’s Italian Grill Underway in Lutz, Fla.

Bloomin’ Brands has also tapped Englewood Construction for a new ground-up Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Lutz, Fla. Located at 25298 Sierra Center Blvd., the 5,932-square-foot restaurant is slated for completion this summer. Mark S. Salopek, LLC is the project architect.

“Bloomin’ Brands has been an outstanding client for us since 2014, and so we’re incredibly proud to expand our relationship by building our first Carrabba’s for them,” said Di Santo. “Our familiarity with the Bloomin’ Brands team and their processes should make for a smooth experience all around.”

Englewood Hatches New Chick-fil-A in Novi, Mich.

Englewood Construction is wrapping up work on a new Chick-fil-A in Novi, Mich., which is expected to open later this spring. Located at 27750 Novi Road near Twelve Oaks Mall, the 4,990-square-foot stand-alone restaurant is the second location Englewood has completed for the national brand. Akron, Ohio-based GPD Group is the architect for the ground-up new-construction project.

“This location is part of Chick-fil-A’s expansion in Michigan, where it has a number of new locations planned or underway,” said Di Santo. “As a national commercial contractor with capabilities to work on projects across the country, we have extensive experience helping brands replicate their concept and brand standards in multiple markets. This makes the process of entering new markets and regions that much easier for clients, since they can rely on the same trusted construction partner regardless of the project location.”

Ruth’s Chris Remodels in San Diego

Winter Park, Fla.-based Ruth’s Chris enlisted Englewood Construction to remodel its existing 12,188-square-foot location at 727 Pine St. in Seattle. Interplan, LLC, out of Orlando, is the project architect. The renovation project entails updates to millwork, flooring, tile, lighting, paint and wall coverings.

“This is just the latest in a series of interior remodels we’ve had the opportunity to work with Ruth’s Chris on over the years,” said Di Santo. “We’re proud to continue our relationship with this client as the brand continues to enhance its locations across the country for new generations of diners.
