Chicago law firm Ginsberg Jacobs LLC is pleased to announce a pair of senior-level appointments: David A. Lapins has been named to the firm’s equity partnership, while Karen Halm-Lutterodt has been promoted to income partner.
“David and I have known each other since the beginning of my legal career 25 years ago at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, where he became one of my mentors,” said Steven “Sonny” F. Ginsberg, the firm’s co-founder. “He is an exceptional lawyer who has contributed significantly to the upward trajectory of our firm by developing a strong, diversified list of clients.”
Lapins will be the fourth equity partner at Ginsberg Jacobs, together with Ginsberg, co-founder Darryl P. Jacobs and Daniel C. Cole.
Lapins joined Ginsberg Jacobs as an income partner in 2014. With more than 30 years of experience, specializing primarily in commercial real estate, he has gained extensive knowledge representing private equity funds, investors, institutional lenders and owner-operators. His notable clients include The John Buck Company, Bridge Development Partners, Fifield Companies, R2 Companies, Singerman Real Estate, North Wells Capital and Monroe Capital. Lapins represents clients in all aspects of commercial real estate, including joint venture formations, acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, and asset and loan portfolio sales and financings.
He received his bachelor’s degree with distinction from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his Juris Doctor from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
Halm-Lutterodt joined Ginsberg Jacobs in 2009 after serving as an assistant state’s attorney with the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. She practices in the areas of real estate, finance, commercial litigation and telecommunications. Her experience encompasses transactional commercial real estate including lease negotiations and all aspects of telecommunications site leasing, development and land use zoning.
She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, master’s degree from DePaul University and Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School.
