Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) today announced Sean Brown has joined the full-service architecture firm as Life Science Market Leader. Working in collaboration with Clayco’s integrated AEC business, Brown will lead the expansion of the firm’s integrated design and engineering services in that sector.

“As a demonstrated industry and technical leader with experience developing biopharmaceutical facilities for clinical and commercial operations, Sean brings a wealth of expertise that will accelerate our gains in this high-growth area for the firm,” said LJC President Sarah Jacobson.

Brown has 25 years of experience in life science process and facility design, including almost two decades at AstraZeneca and Bristol Myers Squibb, in progressive engineering leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Operations, for an emerging biotech company. In his new role at LJC, Brown will focus on developing new business, expanding the firm’s operational scope and supporting existing projects in close collaboration with fellow Life Science team members.

Brown is one of several new additions to LJC’s Life Science team, which recently welcomed Mary Sturgeon, AIA, Principal and Senior Project Manager, based in Chicago; Steve Hackman, AIA, Senior Life Science Lab Planner, working out of the firm’s Overland, Mo., office; and Andy Wilkinson, Director of Aseptic Fill Finish, located in Kansas City, Mo.

A rapidly growing area for the firm, LJC’s Life Science team has amassed a significant portfolio that includes a Pfizer R&D facility in Chesterfield, Mo.; an innovative office and bioresearch lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center campus in Creve Coeur, Mo.; and the Arkansas Research and Technology Park in Fayetteville, Ark., in addition to numerous active greenfield and expansion projects throughout the U.S.

“LJC’s Life Science team is best-in-class, and I’m looking forward to working with my new colleagues to build upon the firm’s large and growing body of work,” said Brown. “It’s gratifying to join a firm with the expertise and resources to take on the sort of large-scale projects that will undoubtedly make the world a better place for people suffering with unmet medical treatment.”

Brown holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a business process management certificate from the University of Warwick. His past and current professional affiliations include the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering’s Boston Area Chapter, American Society for Testing Materials Pharmaceutical Standards Committee and Parenteral Drug Association.
