Sales off to fast start with 11 townhomes sold in first two weeks; three model homes and first deliveries expected in fall 2024

Chicago-based Lexington Homes has announced the start of sales for Metro on Main, a new community of 89 townhomes in north suburban Morton Grove, Ill. Sales have been swift so far, with 11 townhomes sold in the first two weeks of sales. Prices start at $448,990.

With this new maintenance-free community comes the debut of the homebuilder’s fresh redesign of its popular Mews series of townhomes, which will be showcased in three model homes to be completed by this fall.

Located at 8350 Lehigh Ave., Metro on Main is in a prime location near major retailers like Amazon Fresh, Costco, Target, Kohl’s and a newly opened LA Fitness. The community is a short walk from the Morton Grove Metra station, a 10-minute drive to the Dempster-Skokie Yellow Line CTA station and offers convenient access to Interstates 94 and 294. Residents also are in proximity to countless recreational options such as Harrer Park and Harrer Pool, the Chick Evans and Tam golf courses, and the North Branch Trail System, which is less than a mile from Metro on Main.

“With housing inventory still low, many homebuyers are drawn to new-construction homes, which are currently also few and far between,” said Jeff Benach, principal of Lexington Homes. “Just as we are seeing pent-up demand and an uptick in traffic at our other new-home communities over the past couple months, there also is strong interest in Metro on Main, with 70 people on our list before we opened sales in early April and the brisk sale of 11 townhomes since that time. Many of these buyers currently live in an apartment or other home in the Morton Grove area but want more space, a newer home or a better location.

“So far, the new floor plans at Metro on Main are really resonating with potential buyers, who appreciate the homes’ more efficient use of space as well as features like larger closets, extra cabinet and counter space, more sizeable primary baths and a greater number of windows, which are also larger than our previous designs,” added Benach. “Today’s homebuyers are ready for a brand-new home with all the modern finishes and features at this great price point. And, with our first deliveries expected this fall, buyers can be all settled into their new home by the holidays.”

Buyers at Metro on Main can choose from three floor plans: Orchid, Lotus and Juniper. Base-priced from the mid-$440,000s, the three-level townhomes range from 1,780 to 2,278 square feet and offer two to four bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths, balconies and attached rear-facing, two-car garages.

All three plans feature a finished lower level, with access to the garage; a main living level with open-concept kitchen, dining and living areas, a powder room and balcony; and an upper level with bedrooms, full baths and a laundry room. The flex space on the finished lower levels can serve as a home office, fitness room, children’s play area or home theater.

The Orchid design features two to three bedrooms, 2½ to 3 baths, measures 1,780 square feet and is base-priced from $448,990. A highlight of this floor plan is its main-level den with French doors that provide separation between the den and main living areas without compromising the open-concept feel. “The Orchid’s main-level den is ideal as a home office, especially as many people continue to work remotely,” said Benach. “And, if two or more residents study or work from home, there are multiple spaces that can be utilized as a home office, such as the finished lower level or a secondary bedroom upstairs.”

Base-priced from $459,990, the Lotus plan offers three to four bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths and measures 1,954 square feet. Buyers choosing this plan have the option to enlarge the kitchen island, adding more space for seating in a wrap-around design that is ideal for conversation and entertaining.

The largest of the three home designs, Juniper, measures 2,278 square feet – more than 300 square feet larger than the builder’s previous Mews plans – and includes three to four bedrooms and 2½ to 3½ baths. It is base-priced from $504,990. Standout features of the Juniper include a butler’s pantry and walk-in kitchen pantry, which Benach notes are both rare in a townhome.

All homes at Metro on Main include 9-foot ceilings and luxury plank flooring throughout the main level. Kitchens feature 42-inch upper cabinets, quartz countertops, a large island with breakfast bar overhang and energy-efficient stainless steel GE appliances. Baths, per plan, include 12-by-12-inch ceramic flooring, dual sinks, quartz vanity tops and private water closets. Primary suites have walk-in closets.

Buyers can choose from a variety of structural upgrades to customize their home, such as adding a powder room on the lower level, a traditional or contemporary fireplace in the main level living area and volume ceilings in any upper-level bedroom. Per plan, a 2-foot extension can be added to increase square footage in secondary bedrooms, a third bedroom can be added on the upper level, and a fourth bedroom can be added on the lower level.

Exteriors at Metro on Main feature an English elegance combined with modern architectural influences through a black-and-gray color scheme, brick accents, gabled rooflines, metal trim, lap siding and large six-pane windows for enhanced natural light throughout the homes.
