Meritus Homes Opens New Decorated Model Home at Greenbrook at Highland Woods in ElginMay 26, 2015
Deerfield, Ill.-based Meritus Homes announces it has opened its first decorated model home at Greenbrook, the builder’s exclusive neighborhood of 22 single-family homes within the master-planned Highland Woods development on Elgin’s west side. Located just three miles west of Randall Road on the north side of Route 20, Highland Woods is a fully developed lifestyle community by Crown Community Development, planned to include approximately 1,100 homes across 12 individual neighborhoods.
“We’re extremely excited to now have this beautifully decorated model home at Greenbrook, showcasing one of the best-selling floor plans in our entire portfolio,” said Brian Brunhofer, president of Meritus Homes. “Buyers will not only be able to walk through the model and experience firsthand the excellent design, special features and high-end finishes that are the hallmark of every Meritus home, but also picture themselves living in this community and imagine the terrific lifestyle they’ll have here thanks to the extensive amenities Highland Woods offers as a master-planned development.”
Meritus Homes offers a semi-custom building process at Greenbrook, through which buyers can either build a Meritus floor plan as-is or work with the builder’s design team to make customizations that can range from special finishes to structural changes. Semi-custom home packages at Greenbrook at Highland Woods include ranch, master-down and two-story plans and are priced from the mid-$400,000s. Home designs range in size from 2,610 to 3,918 square feet and have three to four bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths, full basements and attached two- or three-car garages.
The model features the 3,716-square-foot Dunberry, a two-story design priced from $499,900. It includes four bedrooms, 3½ baths, separate living and dining areas, a den adjacent to the family room, an eat-in kitchen with an island and breakfast area, and mudroom.
“Prospective buyers who walk through this model will understand right away why the Dunberry is so popular at all of our Chicago-area communities,” said Brunhofer. “The first floor has a very open flow between the living and dining room at the front of the home and the family room and kitchen to the rear. To see it fully furnished not only helps buyers envision themselves living in this home, but also demonstrates just how much living space this home really has.”
Brunhofer noted the model highlights just some of the ways buyers can personalize the Dunberry. For example, the model features a partially finished basement to create flexible extra living space, as well as a customized mudroom with built-in lockers, cubbies and a bench.
“The mudroom is always a real workhorse in any home, and the model shows the space in this plan as a very functional drop zone that will keep a family organized and limit clutter in the rest of the home,” said Brunhofer.
Another customized feature in the model is a butler’s pantry, which is designed for entertaining with an expanse of counter space, plentiful cabinetry for storing extra dishes and glassware, and a built-in beverage center. Adjacent to the butler’s pantry is the gourmet kitchen, which features 42-inch white-finished maple cabinetry and an oversized island in a walnut stain. Granite countertops, featuring white stone with veined patterns of gray quartz, black mica and burgundy garnet, run throughout the kitchen and the butler’s pantry, and are complemented by a glass mosaic backsplash in tones of gray.
“Today’s buyers see the kitchen as a prime opportunity to express their own personal style, and the model is just one example of how they can use a range of available color palettes and finishes to create the aesthetic they want,” said Brunhofer.
The model also features 10-foot first-floor ceilings, site-finished 3¼-inch oak floors in a dark walnut stain throughout most of the first floor, and oak stairs with black metal baluster-style rails. Upstairs, the master suite has a spa-like master bath with a raised dual vanity, separate soaking tub, and a frameless glass shower with a rain shower head and body jets.
Buyers at Greenbrook have access to extensive community amenities including a clubhouse, fitness center, sports courts, and resort-style pool. Highland Woods is set among 196 acres of open space, with beautiful grounds featuring natural preservation areas, an 18-acre lake, more than five miles of walking and biking paths, and seven neighborhood parks and playgrounds.
Families at Greenbrook at Highland Woods are served by Central Community School District #301, a sought-after district in the west Elgin and Burlington communities. Elementary students at Highland Woods attend an on-site school, Country Trails Elementary, located adjacent to the Highland Woods Owners Club.
The new model home is located at 3590 Waterscape Terrace. The sales office, located in the model, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment. For more information about Greenbrook at Highland Woods, call 630-883-8547 or visit www.MeritusHomeBuilders.com.
