Wight & Company, a multi-disciplinary architecture, engineering and construction firm, has announced that Mike McMurray has joined the firm as president of its transportation and infrastructure group, where he will guide the firm’s efforts to address the region’s growing need for innovative solutions to complex transportation and mobility projects. He will also serve as head of the firm’s Chicago office, where he will lead strategic and growth initiatives.
“We’ve followed Mike’s career for several years and are confidant he has the vision and skill set to not only continue the growth trajectory of our transportation and infrastructure group, but also provide strategic leadership to the Chicago office,” said Mark Wight, chairman and chief executive officer at Wight & Company. “The addition of Mike will have a significant impact for our entire business as we enter the next decade.”
Over the course of his career, McMurray has spearheaded projects with regional and global impact, most recently as president of Globetrotters Engineering Corporation (GEC), a full-service architectural, transportation and infrastructure engineering firm. Prior to working in the private sector, McMurray held several senior-level positions with the City of Chicago, including as managing deputy commissioner of the Department of Aviation, managing deputy commissioner of the Department of General Services, first deputy commissioner of the Department of Procurement Services and contract compliance officer. “Wight & Company has a great reputation and culture, and this role will enable me to contribute my experience to a firm whose mission of creating meaningful impact I truly believe in,” said McMurray. “I am excited about what’s ahead for the firm and look forward to building on an already strong foundation in the city of Chicago and in the transportation and infrastructure group, especially as the sector is on the cusp of so much new opportunity.”
A graduate of Northwestern University, McMurray earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He is a member of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) and the U.S. Green Building Council – Illinois Chapter.
