Evanston, Ill.-based Morgante Wilson Architects, Ltd. (MWA), one of the country’s leading residential architecture and interior design firms, announces it has named Renata Buenrostro as its newest partner. Buenrostro, who has served as MWA’s director of architectural interiors since 2017, joined the firm in 2000 as an architectural project manager, a position she held for four years before being promoted to associate of architectural interiors.
“As our firm grew rapidly in the early 2000s and we created a more formal structure with specific departments for each practice area, Renata was a foundational core of our architectural interiors team as our first staff member to work exclusively within that group,” said Elissa Morgante, co-founding parter of Morgante Wilson Architects. “She not only helped shaped processes and approaches we currently follow, but also left her design mark on some of our most exciting projects along the way. The leadership and institutional knowledge Renata contributes today as one of our longest-tenured employees and head of her department made it a natural decision to name her as our newest partner.”
As partner, Buenrostro will help ensure MWA’s projects are focused on design excellence, innovation and meticulous execution. She will also continue to lead her department, overseeing all architectural interior projects for the firm in addition to mentoring and training team members. As part of MWA’s holistic and collaborative design process, Buenrostro will continue to collaborate with the firm’s architectural and interior design project managers to ensure a cohesive approach to all aspects of each project. Buenrostro specializes in private residential work, with past projects including numerous lakefront homes on Chicago’s North Shore and in Michigan.
“The past 20 years as a residential interior architect have been an incredible journey, in large part because our industry has never stopped evolving,” said Buenrostro. “I’ve watched styles come, go, and come back again; materials and craftsmanship be reimagined; and technology completely transform not only how we design, but also how our clients experience design. Today, everything is more visual and immediate, and expectations around communication, timing and delivery have changed dramatically. What hasn’t changed is what I believe makes a home design truly successful: listening carefully, understanding how people want to live, and creating spaces that feel personal, thoughtful and timeless.”
Buenrostro was born and raised in Mexico City, where she graduated from the Ibero-American University. She is a licensed architect in Mexico and an international AIA member. She studied history of architecture at University of Illinois Chicago, and art history at École du Louvre in Paris.
