Evanston, Ill.-based Morgante Wilson Architects, Ltd., a leading architecture and interior design firm, today announced it has promoted Alicia Chlebek Blakely from project manager to associate of architecture.
“One of the things we’re most proud of as a family-owned firm is the long tenure many of our team members have with us as they develop professionally and reach new milestones in their careers,” said Fred Wilson, co-founder and co-principal of Morgante Wilson Architects (MWA). “Alicia has been an important part of Morgante Wilson for nearly eight years, and it has been extremely gratifying to watch her step up to new challenges and responsibilities. As we build on the growth trajectory this company has been on in recent years, Alicia is part of our next generation of leaders that will see us into the future.”
In her new role, Blakely will continue her focus on single-family residential design, and will also take on new responsibilities, such as planning and managing internal professional development seminars for MWA staff. Additionally, she will be involved in promoting sustainable design ideas and managing MWA’s social media channels.
Blakely joined MWA in 2013 as a project manager, a position in which she was involved in all aspects of the design process, including completing technical drawings, ensuring compliance with construction and building codes, and evaluating project sites. In addition to her residential work, she has project experience across other building types including mixed-use, healthcare, commercial, retail and education.
A graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Blakely is active in Chicago Women in Architecture and is currently pursuing her architecture license and certification with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).
