M&R Development Breaks Ground on The Residences at Wilmette

October 7, 2016

Itasca, Ill.-based M&R Development, in a joint venture with Deerfield, Ill.-based Globe Corporation, announced it has broken ground on The Residences at Wilmette, a five-story, 75-unit building at 611 Green Bay Road in Wilmette, Ill. Located on the northwest corner of Green Bay Road and Wilmette Avenue, the development will also include 6,200 square feet of street-level retail. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2017.

Designed as a transit-oriented development, The Residences at Wilmette will be less than one block from the Wilmette Metra station, providing residents with a 36-minute commute to Chicago’s Ogilvy Transportation Center. For more leisurely transit, a regional bike path, also within one block of the project, will lead residents to the Lake Michigan shoreline.

“There’s definitely a pent-up demand for new luxury rentals in downtown Wilmette. In fact, this building will mark the first new-construction rental community in the immediate area in many years,” said Anthony Rossi Sr., president of M&R Development. “The development’s location next to public transportation, along with its mix of high-end residential and commercial uses, will make it an ideal place to live for long-time Wilmette residents looking to make a change to a maintenance-free lifestyle, yet still remain in the area.”

Served by the desirable New Trier Township High School District 203, The Residences at Wilmette will include a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 650 to 1,550 square feet. Each home will feature 9½-foot ceilings; modern kitchens with 42-inch upper cabinets, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances; and upscale baths with ceramic tile floors and shower enclosures. Each apartment will also be equipped with a washer/dryer, cable TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a high-efficiency furnace/AC unit. Balconies will be available, per plan.

“With luxury condominium-quality interior finishes and high-end craftsmanship, there’s no doubt The Residences at Wilmette will appeal to discerning renters by choice,” said Rossi. “These maintenance-free apartments will resonate just as much with area residents wanting to downsize as they will to those looking to move into the top-ranked New Trier school district.”

All residents of the building will be able to enjoy a 7,300-square-foot landscaped terrace with outdoor seating, grilling stations, and a fire pit all designed to facilitate impromptu gatherings; a fitness center with health-club-grade cardio and weight training equipment; and a club room for private gatherings. The Residences at Wilmette will also offer a business center/conference room – ideal for work-from-home professionals – as well as bike storage and a dog wash and pet grooming area. An indoor parking garage with 116 resident parking spaces and personal vehicle charging stations will also be available.

“This community provides every convenience today’s discriminating renter seeks, all in an upscale atmosphere,” said Rossi. “It places high-end rental living at the center of a vibrant and highly sought-after North Shore suburb.”

In addition to enjoying convenient access to downtown Chicago via the Metra Station and the lakefront via the regional bike path, residents will also be a short walk to three different Pace Suburban Bus lines, the public library, village government center, and numerous shopping and dining destinations. The community is being developed using sustainable materials and techniques necessary to attain LEED Gold Certification.

The Residences at Wilmette is designed by Oak Brook, Ill.-based Schwarz Lewis Design Group while Chicago-based McHugh Construction has been retained as the project’s general contractor.
