Nicholas & Associates and Wingspan Development Group of the Nicholas Family of Companies, a family-owned and -operated organization headquartered in Mount Prospect, Ill., joined Elk Grove Village officials on Thursday, April 16 to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for the initial commercial phase of The VUE, a 10-acre mixed-use development in Elk Grove Village, Ill.

After remarks and the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees joined Mayor Craig Johnson and Nick Papanicholas, Jr., CEO and managing director of Nicholas Family of Companies, on a tour of the new retail spaces for Tensuke Market and Food Court, 7 Mile Cycles, Jarosch Bakery and Vini’s Pizza — the four local retailers that have relocated within the commercial strip.

“It’s a great day to celebrate The VUE, and I want to thank Mayor Johnson, community development staff, our equity partners, our family, our construction team and everyone else who made this possible,” said Papanicholas. “To our tenants, thank you for believing in the vision and staying committed through this process. Your dedication made it possible, and I believe your businesses will thrive here for the next 30-plus years. Partnership is a word people use all the time, but here it is lived every day, starting at the top and creating a culture people want to be part of in Elk Grove Village.”

Located at Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road, The VUE will be a modern, pedestrian-friendly mixed-use hub offering upscale living, dining and shopping. Highlights of the development include a 271-unit apartment community, 16 rental townhomes, a multistory clubhouse with resort-style pool and other amenities for VUE residents, and 52,000 square feet of retail space. A newly constructed and nearly completed pedestrian overpass will connect The VUE with the 3,500-acre Ned Brown Forest Preserve (Busse Woods), where residents can enjoy boating, fishing, biking, hiking and more.

“The VUE brings new opportunities for local businesses and marks a significant step forward for this part of town,” said Jason Macklin, vice president of Wingspan Development Group. “It is helping create a destination where people can eat, shop and play.”
