Chicago-based Related Midwest today announced the official name for its new 300-unit apartment tower at 1035 W. Van Buren: Landmark West Loop.

Scheduled to open in August 2017, the 30-story luxury apartment tower will offer a mix of studio, convertible, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, along with a full suite of lifestyle amenities. It marks Related Midwest’s third luxury rental development in downtown Chicago, following 500 Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville and OneEleven in the Loop, each of which set rental rate and lease-up records upon completion in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Construction on Landmark West Loop began in October 2015. When it opens in August, it will be the first West Loop apartment tower to deliver in 2017. Located immediately north of the Eisenhower Expressway, the community will offer convenient access to the University of Illinois at Chicago and Illinois Medical District, as well as jobs throughout the West Loop and central business district, accessible via the nearby UIC-Halsted Blue Line station. Fulton Market, home to major corporations like Google and McDonald’s, which will move its global headquarters there in 2018, is located less than a mile north of the property.

The new tower is designed by New York-based Morris Adjmi Architects, whose recent projects include 837 Washington, an award-winning office building across from the High Line in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District; and the Wythe Hotel, a refurbished factory on the Brooklyn waterfront. For Landmark West Loop, the firm drew inspiration from Chicago’s modernist architecture, utilizing a combination of steel, brick and glass to match the architectural style and character of the surrounding neighborhood. The tower’s 300 residential units will sit atop a six-level parking podium, with retail frontage along Van Buren Street.

Lendlease (US) is serving as the project’s general contractor, while GREC Architects is executive architect. For more information on Landmark West Loop, and to sign up for updates on pre-leasing, visit www.landmarkwestloop.com.
